CLEANER FAQS

Got questions? We've got answers.

Thinking about joining the House? Here's the stuff you probably want to know before you apply.

WHO ARE HOUSE OF CLEAN?

House of Clean is a modern residential cleaning business connecting great cleaners with customers who want their homes properly looked after.

We're building a proper cleaning workforce — with organised bookings, clear standards, support and room to grow.

DO I NEED CLEANING EXPERIENCE?

Not necessarily.

Experience is definitely a plus, but we're more interested in people who are reliable, hardworking, detail-oriented and take pride in what they do.

If you've got the right attitude, we'll help you learn the House of Clean way.

AM I AN EMPLOYEE OR A CONTRACTOR?

This depends on the role you're applying for.

Each job listing will clearly tell you the engagement type, pay structure and relevant requirements before you apply.

If you're unsure about a particular opportunity, just ask us.

HOW DO I FIND AVAILABLE JOBS?

Available opportunities will be listed through our recruitment and job-board channels.

You'll be able to browse the jobs currently available and apply for the ones that suit your location, availability and experience.

No need to apply for everything. Find what works for you.

CAN I CHOOSE WHICH JOBS I WORK?

Where the role and availability allow, we want cleaners to have flexibility around the work they take on.

Some positions may involve regular recurring bookings, while others may be more flexible.

The specific expectations will be outlined in each job listing.

HOW DO I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING?

House of Clean uses workforce management technology to keep your work organised.

You'll have access to the information you need for your allocated bookings, including the location, scheduled time and relevant job information.

Less hunting through texts. More knowing what's happening.

DO I NEED MY OWN CAR?

Generally, yes.

Cleaning jobs take place at customers' homes, so you'll need reliable transport to get to your bookings.

Your job listing will outline any specific transport requirements.

DO I NEED MY OWN CLEANING EQUIPMENT?

Equipment requirements will depend on the role and the booking arrangement.

Some House of Clean opportunities may require you to bring your own equipment, while other arrangements may involve House of Clean or the customer providing certain products or equipment.

Check the individual job listing for the specifics.

WHAT PRODUCTS DO I USE?

This depends on the booking.

House of Clean may provide cleaning products for certain services, or customers may select an option where their own preferred products are used.

You'll receive the relevant information before completing the job.

Never use a product you're unsure about — if something doesn't look right, ask.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN'T MAKE A BOOKING?

Tell us as soon as possible.

We understand that things happen, but customers rely on us turning up when we're expected.

The earlier we know, the more chance we have of finding another cleaner and keeping the customer's booking on track.

Repeated last-minute cancellations or no-shows may affect your ability to receive future work.

WHAT IF I'M RUNNING LATE?

Let us know.

Traffic happens. Life happens. Melbourne happens.

But communication is everything.

If you're going to miss your expected arrival time, notify House of Clean as soon as you know so we can keep the customer informed.

WHAT IF THE CUSTOMER ISN'T HOME?

Follow the access instructions provided with the booking.

If you can't safely or reasonably access the property, contact House of Clean rather than improvising.

Don't enter a property without authorised access.

WHAT IF I ARRIVE AND THE HOUSE IS WAY WORSE THAN EXPECTED?

Don't just power through it and hope for the best.

Take photos where appropriate and contact House of Clean.

If the condition of the property is materially different from what was booked or described, we'll assess the situation and work out the appropriate next step with you.

WHAT IF SOMETHING GETS DAMAGED?

Tell us immediately.

Don't hide it, don't try to quietly fix it and definitely don't hope nobody notices.

Accidents can happen. What matters is being honest and reporting them promptly.

House of Clean will assess the situation and manage it with the customer appropriately.

WHAT IF I DON'T FEEL SAFE AT A PROPERTY?

Your safety comes first.

If you encounter a situation that you reasonably believe is unsafe, stop the relevant work and contact House of Clean.

This could include aggressive animals, hazardous substances, unsafe electrical equipment, threatening behaviour, dangerous conditions or anything else that presents a serious risk.

You never need to put yourself at risk to finish a clean.

DO I HAVE TO CLEAN A HOME IF THERE'S A PET?

Not necessarily.

You'll be told relevant pet information where it affects the booking.

If an animal is aggressive, unsecured or creating an unsafe environment, contact House of Clean before proceeding.

WHAT IF A CUSTOMER ASKS ME TO DO EXTRA WORK?

If it's outside the scope of the booking, don't automatically agree to it.

Let House of Clean know.

We can determine whether the additional work can be added to the booking and whether additional time or payment is required.

CAN I ACCEPT PRIVATE WORK FROM A HOUSE OF CLEAN CUSTOMER?

Not where doing so is intended to bypass House of Clean.

Customers come to us through the House of Clean platform and relationships we've built, and our cleaners are expected to respect those arrangements.

If a customer asks you to work for them privately, speak to us first.

WILL I ALWAYS GET THE SAME CUSTOMERS?

Not necessarily.

Some cleaners may build recurring customer relationships, while others may work across different homes.

We'll do our best to create consistency where possible, but bookings can change based on customer preferences, availability and business needs.

WHAT SUPPORT DO I GET?

You're not expected to figure everything out alone.

House of Clean will provide support around bookings, scheduling, customer issues, service expectations and other work-related questions.

If you're unsure about something, ask.

It's always better to ask than guess.

HOW DO I GET PAID?

Your pay arrangements will depend on the specific role you're engaged for.

The applicable rate, payment cycle and conditions will be provided before you accept the position.

IS THERE ROOM TO GROW?

Absolutely.

As House of Clean grows, we're interested in people who want to grow with it.

There may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, support new cleaners, contribute to quality standards or move into future leadership roles.

You don't have to stay on the tools forever.

WHAT DOES HOUSE OF CLEAN EXPECT FROM ME?

The basics matter.

Show up.
Be reliable.

Do the job properly.
Don't cut corners.

Respect the home.
You're a guest in someone's space.

Communicate.
If something goes wrong, tell us.

Be professional.
Customers should feel comfortable having you in their home.

Take pride in it.
Because good cleaning is a skill.

WHAT DO I GET IN RETURN?

You get a team behind you.

Clear work.

Organised systems.

Support.

Flexibility where the role allows it.

Opportunities to grow.

And a company that genuinely wants to build a better experience for the people doing the cleaning — not just the people booking it.

STILL HAVE A QUESTION?

If you can't find the answer here, just ask us.

We're much better at answering questions than pretending we've thought of every possible one.
